A Small Glimpse...
Born July 1st, in her beloved state of Michigan, Levi was raised with her two older sisters and a younger brother in the small northern farmlands in the 'Mitten'. From a young age, M.A Levi was taught by her father to admire the world for what it was and for what it could be.
"Being completely over-analytical, I could always talk to my father about everything. From the bigger to smaller topics, he always spoke with an air of logic, understanding, and hope. The way he would speak about life in general always contained a sense of wonderment and awe. It was almost otherworldly, but he's just a big lover of life. A moment to step back and take a look at everything for what it was and what it could be."
Whereas her mother influenced another force into her young developing mind, which was of a paranormal nature. Levi, with a little laugh in her voice and a smile on her lips, proudly claims both parents had unknowingly influenced her to become a writer. However, with the help of time, passion and support it came to fruition.
"I love it now, of course. It's what genre I describe the Beast Trilogy as, and it's incredibly fun to write. However, I hated all things horror growing up. Anything paranormal, monsters - all of it scared the hell out of me. I mean, my mother would watch a select line of favorite horror flicks on a loop. Thinking back on it now, I don't think she realized while we were playing we were listening to the show she had on. I mean, they were never too demented, blood splattering on the walls, slasher films. Those were never her style. But the movies and shows that were on were always of ghosts, demons, vampires, monsters and so on. Like the real scary stuff that a child wouldn't really understand why they were running, only the emotions the characters were feeling. Pumpkin Head, Amityville Horror, Poltergeist, and countless others. Those were the horror movies I've always known and came to enjoy. Then, Tales from the Crypt, Twilight Zone, Creepshow, and similar programs as well. Now, as I'm older, I do the same thing she did. Some days I make coffee and turn on a scary movie. You know to enjoy the morning the right way. With the sun shining and the sounds of somebody getting mauled by a werewolf in the background. It's a feeling of home." Levi added with a joking laugh. "However, I don't have any children of my own to 'greatly influence' while I watch."
Progressing through the years, Levi moved from place to place for a multitude of reasons, but it always with her family and she always stayed in Michigan. Yet, through her ever-changing life, those weren't her only constants. Storytelling, reading, and writing had remained more than a passion for her for as long as she could remember. Levi thrived throughout her young school years in her multiple creative writing classes and English courses. Especially when the assignments involved writing her own poetry and short stories. Sensing talent in her style, a creative writing teacher insisted she had taken a journalism and publication course. However, Levi was unsure of the venture and politely refused. As more time had passed, Levi began attending high school in Grand Blanc, Michigan. After she met her high school sweetheart and now husband, she was encouraged by him to submit several works of poetry and won the coveted Editor's choice awards in 2006. And won again in 2007. However, despite her obvious connections and successes in writing, Levi developed another flare; business. After graduating early January 2009, from 2010-2013, while attending Baker College she was a small thriving business owner. However, staying true to a rooted instinct, a thought struck and Levi knew she had to write it out. Little did she know then, in doing so it would change her life from then on.
"I feel like I've told this story a billion times over, but it's my story and part of who I am today. So, I'm forever destined to repeat it. Also, I love telling it during my speeches that children can attend to. I've been told it's inspiring to hear, especially to young writers of all types. I'm a strong supporter of many causes; Save the Bees, Go Green, Autism Awareness, and many others. All strike a personal viewpoint and are dear to my heart. Yet, there's something deeper that calls to me about letting children, men, and women (of all walks of life) know that you only have one life to cram all this amazing stuff into it. It's okay to break the mold and become so much more than the rejection you felt in high school, or the cubicle job that plagues you as an adult. If you have a passion and it's what you love and it doesn't infringe on the health and well-being of others- then why not? I was in college for four years for business while running my own. Then one day, during my downtime, an idea came to me and I was inspired by a TV show. I followed my natural instinct to write and it changed me. Never thinking it was possible, I wrote my first book. And now after three years, I'm almost done with my third, which will finish up the Beast Trilogy, in my opinion, perfectly. I was blessed to realize this as soon as I did. But it took the support of my family, friends, hard work and confidence in myself to make it happen. Now, on the list of things, the fans keep me going too."
While enjoying her privacy in both her personal life and career, M. A. Levi works on a number of projects. Finishing the first book in the series (Flames to the Beast), she's currently working on the third installment of the Beast Trilogy (Rising the Beast). Adored by her growing fan base and readers, Beast Blood reviewers are giving the 'truly original', 'epic' and 'wonderfully written' book a five-star rating as they wait for the other two to become released. All that she could ask for as an author is, 'when somebody picks up one of my books, I hope they become enthralled by the story and it captivates their hearts." Then, she humoredly added. "Enough so where they want it made into a movie or show." With another easy smile, she humbly stated. "No, but seriously, I just really want the readers to kick back and to enjoy the story."
